The RS-25 Resonant Scanner and RVC-25 Rotational Voice
Coil Motor are two closely related products that are nearly identical in appearance but have important and significant operating differences.
The RS-25 Resonant Scanner oscillates its load that is usually a mirror at a factory fixed frequency. The frequency can range from 10 Hz to something less than 1000 Hz. In general terms, the maximum angular amplitude of a RS-25 Resonant Scanner is directly related to its resonant frequency. One of the many important advantages of the RS-25 Resonant Scanner is the very low electrical power need to support its oscillating motion.
Unlike the RS-25 Resonant Scaner, theRVC-25 Rotation Voice Coil Stage can be commanded to position its load, usualy a mirror; to any point in its maximum 90 degree peak-to-peak optical range. The fully integrated servo control electronics will maintain that angular position with micro-radian resolution. The RVC-25 Rotational Voice Coil Stage can oscillate its load like the RS-25 Resonant Scanner but not at the higher frequencies and the input electrical power needed will be much higher.
